Embroiderus Interruptus
So, after a week of trying to scare up time to go to City Quilter down on 25th St., which is the only place in the city I've been able to find that carries silk embroidery ribbons, I finally had time today. Ribbon Roses
Long, hot weekends are good for staying in and doing lots of ribbon embroidery. I finally finished girasole's shawl, and will be sending it off today. Turns out it takes a lot of ribbon roses to cover the ends of a 30-inch shawl! But hey, it's good practice and I did finish it. Time for one of my periodic "No, I'm not dead," posts. May has been a crazy month, but mostly in a good way.
Things I'm doing now:
- Jewelry. Had another show at Regina Opera. No buyers, but I'm going to give it a couple more tries before I give up on it. Next time should be better, as the musicians will be there. I've also gotten commission from A ( Read more... )

Simple Is Complex, Complex Is Simple
Will someone please explain to me why I can't master a simple loop-stitch flower or a French knot, but could make a passable spider-web ribbon rose on the first try?
